Terrorism in the Age of Great Power Competition at Annenberg Presidential Conference Center
- Admission: Free with RSVP
The Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs at the Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M University invites you to join Professor Bruce Hoffman, professor at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service, as he discusses “Terrorism in the Age of Great Power Competition” on Monday, April 3, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. CT at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center.
Does terrorism still pose a significant threat to global security?
For nearly two decades, American national security policy and priorities were focused on this threat from a non-state actor. But recent events such as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, China’s more aggressive actions towards Taiwan, and Iran’s nuclear ambitions have relegated counterterrorism to secondary concern. This lecture will assess the ongoing threat of terrorism, U.S. counterterrorist efforts, the repercussions of America’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the Biden Administration’s “over-the-horizon” counterterrorism strategy.
