Destination Bryan Launches Two Free Self-Guided History Tours
Destination Bryan is inviting residents and visitors to discover the city's past through two free, self-guided history tours: a Walking Tour through Historic Downtown Bryan and a Driving Tour across the wider city. Getting started is simple. Participants sign up for a free digital passport at destinationbryan.com/history, then check in at each stop along their chosen tour. Points earned along the way can be redeemed for a prize shipped directly to their door once a tour is complete.
Historic Walking Tour
The Walking Tour guides participants through 35 stops in Historic Downtown Bryan, including the Train Depot, the Carnegie History Center, and Catalena Hatters. Along the way, they'll learn the story behind Bryan's first fire-proof building, the reason Main Street ends where it does, and why a Vietnam-era helicopter sits across from Tavo Coffee Co. The route takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, though visitors can pick and choose stops for a shorter walk.
Historic Driving Tour
The Driving Tour covers 18 stops across town, including Boonville Heritage Park, site of Brazos County's first town, the Brazos Valley African American Museum, Freedman Town and RELLIS, where military pilots and NASA astronauts once trained. The roughly hour-long route follows the path of the old interurban railway that once connected Bryan to Texas A&M, and drivers are welcome to linger and make a full day of it.
Whether on foot downtown or behind the wheel across town, both tours are free, self-guided, and ready whenever residents and visitors want to explore.
Sign up for a free digital passport and start either tour at destinationbryan.com/history.
