The Ice Age Exhibit
- Well-preserved skulls of a mastodon and a Columbian mammoth, both found near the Brazos River
- A complete, articulated skeleton of a cave bear
- Cast shell of a Glyptodon
The Age of Dinosaurs Exhibit
- Full-size casts of the skulls of a Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus rex
- Rare fossilized nodosaur replica
- Display of flying reptiles
Texas History Exhibit
- Set of silverware owned by General Santa Anna
- 1910 Cannonball Safe used in the City National Bank of Bryan
- Models of Horse-drawn vehicles from the Knott Memorial Wagon Collection
Discovery Room
- Features live animals including snakes, lizards, turtles, scorpions, and more.
- Freshwater aquarium with several species of fish native to the Brazos River
- Variety of hands-on interactive books and puzzles for younger audiences
- Hosts the museum's observation beehive

Boonville Heritage Park is a short drive away (about ten minutes from the museum).
- Last preserved remnant of the town of Boonville, the original county seat of Brazos County
- Features 1856 Turner-Peters log house
- Original Boonville Cemetery where Harvey Mitchell, "The Father of Brazos County," his family, and other early pioneers are interred.
Annual Events
Wildflower Days (Spring)
An annual free event that conjoins art and science to celebrate Texas Wildflowers in the Bryan area. This family-friendly event helps identify local wildflowers and create fun wildflower art. The celebration connects local artists and other organizations involving wildflower conservation to appreciate the beauty and diversity of Texas Wildflowers.
Boonville Days (Fall)
A family-friendly heritage festival that celebrates the pioneering era of Boonville, the original name of Bryan! With festivities that include live music, musicians, actors in historical attire, demonstrations of frontier skills, and interactive activities for the kiddos!
Wish Upon a Butterfly (Summer)
An annual fundraiser hosted by the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History featuring the release of monarch butterflies, the Texas state insect. Families are encouraged to one butterfly ticket purchase per family which allows access to the museum, create butterfly crafts, and make a "wish keepsake"!
