ReShonda Tate at Clara B. Mounce Public Library
The 2026 Author Series presents ReShonda Tate, a national best-selling author of more than 50 books. The Queen of Sugar Hill offers a captivating portrait of Oscar winner Hattie McDaniel.
ReShonda Tate is an NAACP Image Award recipient and an inductee into both the Texas Literary Hall of Fame and the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame. Her work has been featured in USA Today, The Washington Post, People, Essence, and Ebony. She also serves as managing editor of the Houston Defender, a radio news anchor and talk show host for KTSU 90.9 FM, and she works as an editor, ghostwriter, and literary consultant. She is co-founder of Brown Girls Books and Brown Girls Entertainment, dedicated to amplifying diverse voices in publishing and film.
ReShonda Tate is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She currently lives in Houston.
The event will include presentation, Q&A and book signing. The first 50 people to register and attend the event in person will receive a free copy of the book With Love from Harlem, ReShonda Tate's newest book which will be released on January 27, 2026. Books will be for sale onsite by Hyperbole Bookstore with 10% of proceeds to the Friends.
