"Wings of Desire" Screening at The Queen Theatre
The Queen’s Film Society presents Wings of Desire (1987), Wim Wenders’ lyrical and haunting meditation on love, memory, and what it means to be alive, for its March Member Pick’d Flick screening.
High above Berlin, unseen angels drift through the streets, listening to the private thoughts of the living and offering silent comfort to the lonely and despairing. One of them, Damiel (“Bruno Ganz”), weary of eternity without sensation, becomes captivated by a mortal trapeze artist, Marion (“Solveig Dommartin”), and longs to trade immortality for the fragile intensity of human life. Wings of Desire has been described as “extravagantly wistful” and “an elegiac ‘city symphony’ about Berlin” (The Guardian).
