Hush & Whisper Distilling Co.
The Varisco building has been an integral part of many stories in Bryan, Texas. It's the legacy of Brazos Varisco, a Sicilian immigrant, agriculturalist, and developer. It's the department store where locals bought their first prom dresses. It's where Bryan High students celebrated after homecoming. And today, it's Bryan's first grain-to-glass distillery.

Who Was Mr. Varisco?
Biagio "Brazos" Varisco was an Italian immigrant, agriculturalist, and developer in Bryan, Texas. In 1948, he developed the Varisco Building, the tallest building in Downtown Bryan. Over the course of his life, he became a prominent figure in the Brazos Valley, significantly contributing to the growth of Bryan and surrounding areas.
Hush & Whisper Distilling Co. restored the Varisco building and re-opened its doors in 2023. The local distilling company owns the process every step of the way, from unloading the wheat grain and malted barley delivered by local farmers to barreling and bottling their award-winning spirits.
Denena Farms, a family-owned farm in Brazos County, provides the grains, barley, and corn kernel for Hush & Whisper's spirits. The distillery cuts down on waste by giving stillage (a byproduct of the process) back to Denena, so he can use it to feed his cattle.

The distilling industry is full of trade secrets. There's a lot of information that doesn't make its way out in the open; It's kept "hush hush".
Hush & Whisper Distilling Co. puts a spin on this — They might have "hush" in their name, but they're committed to authenticity and transparency. They'll tell you how to find out what's really in your bottle, how to read your label, and show you what they're doing (and how they're doing it right).
"Hush & Whisper" is also a nod to all of the tales told about the Varisco building. There have been local stories of hidden cash safes, rooftop parties, and famous visitors. They'll tell you all about it during distillery tours!
