Discover StageCenter Community Theatre in Bryan, TX: History, Shows & Tickets
StageCenter is a community theater in Bryan, TX that has fostered storytelling, community building, and amplifying diverse voices through live performances for 60 incredible years.
From comedies, dramas, mysteries, and a range genres each season, this local theatre has captivated audiences over the past six decades.
History
Located in Downtown Bryan, StageCenter began in 1964 when a group of people who shared a passion of reading and performing plays took an interest in making theatre come to life. Two key players who paved the way for StageCenter were Vic Weining, an English Professor at Texas A&M University, and William Andrew, a local lawyer and pathologist.
The stage has grown from modest roots. Performances were first held in the space that's now 3rd Floor Cantina, and then moved to the new location they now call home. Today, StageCenter stands proudly at the corner of N Bryan and W 24th St.

Spotlight on Season Selection
At StageCenter, it’s easy to be a part of the cast, crew, or even direct the play. At the beginning of the year there is an open submission process where creative leads can submit a play that they personally want to direct.
StageCenter’s Board of Directors, which is made up of community members who are passionate about the performing arts, evaluate which plays are the best fit for the theater. They choose performances for the season after carefully considering submissions and how well they fit with the audience, theater casting, and tech requirements.
One of the most unique things we have is that everything’s done by the cast and crew. The lights, the sounds, all of the building, everything is done by a group of volunteers local from the community.

The Faces On Stage
Cue the lights! Cue the music! The actors and crew who work their magic in the theater are your friendly neighbors in Bryan. They volunteer to be actors, technicians, costume designers, set designers, and take on multiple roles in order to successfully deliver an unforgettable performance.
Rehearsals are in the evening, Monday through Thursday, and the cast and crew also gets together for a work day before opening night. With so much time spent together within the theater’s four walls, cast and crew form strong bonds, and seasoned actors have the opportunity to mentor the newcomers to the stage.
