C&J Barbeque got its start in 1981 with Chip and Jo Manning purchasing a convenience store that catered to weary travelers and everyday folk. Upon opening, a barbeque pit was added and by 1997 the shop converted to a deli-style BBQ restaurant. Today, over 2,200 pounds of barbeque are served per day between all three of their restaurants in Bryan-College Station.
