The Location
Not only is Bryan, Texas in the middle of the Texas Triangle (making it easy to access from three of the state's largest metros), it's also less than 20 minutes from Texas A&M University.
You can experience the traditions of Texas A&M on campus and see where Aggieland began in Bryan, just 15 minutes down the street. It's like two vacations in one!

Historic Downtown Bryan
Before Texas A&M University, there was Historic Downtown Bryan, established with the railroad in the mid-1800s. This area has been a hub for arts and culture for over 150 years, and is home to public art, live music, and local shops.
Historic Downtown Bryan is an official Texas Cultural District and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Several of the buildings along Main Street and Bryan Avenue can even be seen in historic photos of Bryan from 100 years ago.

Bryan is also home to more than over 200 local restaurants with a variety of cuisines. The Bryan Texas Taco Trail features dozens of authentic taquerias, and there are plenty of Texas BBQ stops to try.

- Step back in time at the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History ($5 tickets; $1 every first Tuesday of the month), where you can see the only Nodasaur replica in the country and the original "Mary Terrell", a historic boat that rescued Brazos Valley residents during the 1913 Brazos River Flood.
- The Brazos Valley African American Museum ($5 tickets) tells the past and present story of African Americans in the area with seasonal exhibits and oral histories.
- Lake Bryan is another great budget-friendly option ($5 entry fee) with swimming, fishing, hiking and biking trails, and live music at Cadillac Ranch Bar & Grill on the weekends.
Free Activities
- It's free to visit Boonville Heritage Park, the last remnant of the first town in the Brazos Valley, complete with replicas of pioneer homes and graves of original settlers.
- Explore local art at different galleries, like The Parker-Astin or The Kimbell Cultural Event Center, or enjoy a self-guided tour around town with the Aggieland Art Trail.
- Bryan has free history tours that tell the story of how the town became what it is today. If you complete them, you can get a prize mailed to you!
- The Carnegie History Center is open to the public during the week—It's the oldest still-functioning Carnegie Library in Texas.
